Find the Gaps in Your Insurance Coverage Contest Rules and Regulations

GENERAL: This contest is being conducted by Western Financial Group Inc. (the “Sponsor”).

HOW TO ENTER: The contest will run from 9:00:00 a.m. (MDT) on March 20, 2017 until 5:00:00 p.m. (MST) on December 3, 2017 (the “Contest Period”) at participating Western Financial Group branches. Every free, no-obligation new insurance quote (renewal quotes do not qualify) made during the Contest Period will give the entrant one (1) automatic entry into the contest. However, NO PURCHASE OR QUOTE IS NECESSARY. In order to enter the contest without making a purchase or obtaining a quote, clearly print your name, address (including postal code) and phone number (including area code) on a plain piece of paper and include a 100 word minimum written or typed essay describing what you would do if you won a million dollars. Mail your entry to: Gaps in Your Insurance Contest, 1010 – 24 Street S.E., High River, AB, T1V 2A7. Limit of one mail-in entry per envelope with sufficient postage. Limit of one (1) mail-in entry per person during the Contest Period.  Entries must be received by the Sponsor prior to the expiry of the Contest Period.

ELIGIBILITY: The contest is open to all legal residents of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba who have reached the age of majority in their province at the time of entry, except employees (and persons with whom they are domiciled) of Western Financial Group Inc., its subsidiaries and affiliated companies and employees (and persons with whom they are domiciled) of its advertising and promotional agencies.  By entering this contest, each entrant agrees to be legally bound by the terms and conditions of these Contest Rules and Regulations.

DRAW PROCESS: To determine the contest winners, one (1) random draw will take place on the dates listed in the Draw Calendar in Section 5 from among all the eligible entries. Unselected entries from previous draws are eligible for all subsequent draws. Draws will take place at approximately 9:00 a.m. (MDT or MST, as applicable) in High River, AB on each draw date listed in the Draw Calendar. Selected entrants will be contacted by phone within one (1) week after their respective random draw. If the Sponsor is unable to contact a selected entrant after three (3) reasonable attempts, or if the selected entrant fails to respond within two (2) weeks of the Sponsor’s attempts to contact him or her, then the Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to randomly select another entry. In order to claim a Contest Prize (as defined in Section 6), the selected entrant must correctly answer a time-limited four part mathematical skill-testing question and sign a standard release form declaring his or her eligibility, according to these Contest Rules and Regulations, and releasing the Sponsor from any other further liability other than to award the Contest Prize as described.  If any selected entrant fails to correctly answer the time-limited skill testing question, or to complete, sign and return the release and declaration of eligibility within three (3) business days after same is provided to him or her or, if for any other reason, the Contest Prize cannot be awarded, another entrant will be randomly selected for such prize until it is properly claimed and awarded in accordance with these Contest Rules and Regulations.

DRAW CALENDAR: The Prize draws will be made according to the following Draw Calendar:

  • Contest Prize 1 – May 29, 2017
  • Contest Prize 2 – September 5, 2017
  • Contest Prize 3 – December 4, 2017

DETAILS OF PRIZES: The “Contest Prize” will be three (3) prizes, awarded in accordance with the Draw Calendar, each prize consisting of $12,000 Canadian, payable by cheque, to be used at the winner’s discretion. The winner is not obligated to use the Contest Prize on mortgage payments.

ACCEPTANCE: A Contest Prize must be accepted as awarded and is not transferable. The Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equivalent or greater value if the Contest Prize cannot be awarded as described for any reason.

CHANCES OF WINNING: The odds of winning a Contest Prize are dependent on the number of eligible entries received before each draw date during the Contest Period.

PUBLICITY: By entering, each entrant agrees to abide by these Contest Rules and Regulations and irrevocably consents to his or her name and likeness being used in any publicity carried out by the Sponsor in all or any part of Canada and/or online, without further compensation, should he or she win a Contest Prize.

PERSONAL INFORMATION: By entering, each entrant also agrees to the use of his or her personal information disclosed in or in connection with his or her entry by the Sponsor and its subsidiaries and affiliate companies in accordance with the Sponsor’s Privacy Statement (a copy of which can be found at and only for the purpose of administering the contest, awarding and delivering the Contest Prize and announcing the winner as set out above, unless the entrant otherwise agrees. The Sponsor does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of majority without the consent of a parent or guardian.

SUBJECT TO LAWS: This contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws and regulations. The Sponsor may amend, cancel, close or suspend the contest at any time in order to comply with any applicable laws.

RELEASES AND INDEMNITIES: By participating in the contest, each entrant agrees to release and indemnify and hold harmless the Sponsor and its affiliates, directors, officers, agents, employees and contractors from any and all losses, expenses (including legal fees), damages and claims of any kind in connection with the contest or the acceptance or use/misuse of the Contest Prize and from any further liability other than to award the Contest Prize as described.

ENTRIES: All entries that are incomplete, illegible, damaged, irregular, have been submitted through illicit means, or do not conform to or satisfy any condition of these Contest Rules and Regulations may be disqualified by the Sponsor in its sole discretion.  The Sponsor takes no responsibility for lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, misdirected, late or destroyed entries, or for typographical or other production errors. All entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be returned.
